The idea behind the Development Sesh is to offer “an insight” for juniors that wish to take a competitive stance to racing the opportunity to do so against their peers. Having run several Development Sessions, the feedback has been ultra successful and growing in popularity!!

These sessions are great fun and enable your children to compete in a fun and friendly environment at Rye House rather than just the arrive and drive or Birthday sessions.

Albeit just an insight, our dedicated driver coaches instruct all racers on format, racing lines & most importantly; safety rules! The session lasts approximately 3.5 hours from arrival to departure & includes all the equipment.

The team will also be scouting drivers (based on ability, not results) for eligibility to the Rye House Drivers Club Championships. That aside, it really is an excellent day out for just £39.99 per head!!

We understand that racing is not always perceived as an easy sport to pioneer… Well actually folks, we make it dead simple… With seven successful years in the making, our Hire Kart Championships have developed into a product and service which we believe is the most affordable form of motor sport, but more importantly; life changing!

The concept is simple; Combine a season of arrive & drive racing on a monthly basis, behind the wheel of the fastest karts in the industry, on a track that is regarded as the greatest test of driver skill! High speeds, hard braking and fast cornering on the 1km outdoor racetrack in variant weather conditions is just the beginning! Racing our custom fleet of Honda 5.5 BHP de-governed “Champ Karts”, this special fleet have been purpose built to race spec, with better handling and more power; and will only be used by RHDC drivers. In short, these karts will really enable you to up the pace out on the circuit!

First and foremost… All qualifying and heats times have been increased from 7 minutes to 10, whilst the finals have increased from 10 to 12 minutes!!!

The Rules and Regs have been updated to show the new itinerary. We will stick to this to ensure a smooth running of the day so please make sure you are on the grid in plenty of time!!!

The BAR will be open all Friday evening & all day Saturday (inc the evening!) for anyone wanting to have a beer and a chinwag

Finally… as with the IKR Championship that we have held all year, remember people, this is an IKR event and therefore there is NO RIGHT OF APPEAL. Please leave your ‘hissy feet’ boots in your vehicle, banter boots are allowed

As with every round so far, the atmosphere was epic!! Having some top drivers join us is always an honour and much of the racing was awesome to watch with battles up and down the entire grids throughout.

The paddock buzzing with spectators and exciting commentary from Chris McCarthy from the Karting Magazine, the IKR series really is living up to expectations! As a brand new series, we can only get better with experience, therefore we can take great value out of every meeting!

Just a small negative…..

Whilst we appreciate that this is racing and competition is natural, we were not entirely satisfied with the behaviour of some of the drivers/teams on & off the race track.

Going forward, there will be an extremely simple zero tolerance rule to foul language, threatening behaviour or anything of the sort. Should a driver or a member of his/her family/team cause any kind of disruptive behaviour, they will be asked to pack their kart up & leave immediately!

Please remember that this series is pinned on having a fun day out. The team run the series for enjoyment and for your pleasure. We are here to police the event and feel it is paramount that we are able to concentrate on keeping our racing safe!

So you’ve recently visited Rye House for an arrive & drive experience… No doubt it was awesome, but what next…..

We’re working on forming something extra special to provide junior racers the opportunity to take the next step into the world of motor sport!

The next development session has been set up for Monday 19th June 2017

Our experienced team of race instructors will be coaching drivers on technique, race craft and thereon improving lap times on track whilst relaying detailed feedback and knowledge off track!

How the session will run

With 36 spaces available, drivers will be split into 3 groups; A, B, C in order of sign in.
Each group will be given approximately 2 x 10 min sessions from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Each session will cover a practical drill.
When off track, drivers will receive guidance and feedback from the development team.

From 7:20pm – 8:00pm, the team will run a team Junior Endurance race!!!! The class will be split into teams of 3 (we’ll pick the teams), for a Le Mans style 40 minute mini enduro!! The emphasis will be on team work & drivers ability to perform in a team with weaker & stronger co-drivers. Let’s not forget it will be damn good fun!!

Priced at £39.99 per driver, the session will last 2 hours and must be prebooked in advance.

Rye House introduced the academy over ten years ago. The idea was to give children that weren’t old enough to attend open practice (due to age) a regular session on the main track that was safe.

This year has seen a massive increase in youngster starting out! With more marshals, advice and instructors helping your little ones on and off the track, our aim is to bring RHKL to the next level and maybe we’ll find that next Lewis Hamilton!?!?
