The 2017 IKR London Cup was a huge success with some of the best driver attending what is regarded one of the the oldest karting events in the country, we can’t wait to run this for 2018!

So, with little over SIX weeks!!! to go before the London Cup, get booking in! Entry List and Online booking can be found at the ryehouseikr.co.uk website and the Rules & Regs should be finalised over the next few days. These will follow the R&R’s from the IKR series which has run all year!

Wahay!! This summer sees “beach parties” at Rye-Assic adventure park, introducing  our brand new attraction,  the “SPLASH PARK”.

The splash park is a safe, fun environment where the kids  can cool down during hot weather “play days”. With fountains, water sprays and nozzles galore your child can “splash” to their hearts content. All you need to bring is a towel and a cozie and of course ……………..sun cream ! “it’s always sunny at Rye-Assic Adventure park…..”

Price includes: Entry into the park and a “Dino” lunch box, children’s entertainer/host (Reggie the dinosaur), messy play and of course FREE ENTRY INTO THE SPLASH PARK. There will also be a raffle with great prizes too!

With the holidays in full swing, the sand pit and “shake” shack will both be available, as well as all the other features you know and love.

As the longest established major kart competition at Rye, The London Cup has seen some of the greatest drivers in the sport stood on the podium… perhaps this year it could be you!

Due to the success and popularity of our independently run IKR series and of course our 2017 London Cup, once again, team Rye will be taking the reins and running the event to IKR rules.. Meaning drivers without an MSA license can still compete! (note: non-licence holders must be verified)

£85 per class covers the whole day, if you require a transponder then you can hire one from the track at £20, if you have your own, GREAT! the permitted transponders are MyLaps Tranx 160 or the newer MyLaps Trans X2.

The one day meeting will have an optional but dedicated test day from 8am – 4pm on Saturday 6th October (allowing a 1 hour lunch break) and is now available to book for the following categories:

Sticking to tradition, The London Cup will be televised for that extra bit of razzmatazz and of course give all our racers some airtime on the screen!

Spectators: If you are a motor sport fan then kart racing is always an exciting event to watch! With fast, bumper-to-bumper action, commentary, live timing and great facilities, then why not put the date in your diary! Spectators will be charged £1 on the gate, all proceeds will go to charity: Teens Unite Fighting Cancer

The first race of the year saw a dry and grippy track, which would allow our drivers to push the karts to the limit. Father and son team and seasoned drivers Ken and Stanley Jones, RHDC Senna Cup’s Shaun Mcgrath and experienced driver Rory Gordon set the first round up to be a tough competition. The late addition of Rye House Superstars Wayne Edwards and Jaunius Zukas, from the RHPK endurance championship, added to the already strong grid.

• Race 1

With a randomised grid for race 1, and a reversed order for race 2, there was always going to be lots of overtaking and jostling for position on the opening laps. But biggest movers were Jaunius and Wayne, who gained a massive 7 and 11 places respectively. By the end of the twenty minute race it was Stanley Jones who took the top spot, Jaunius Zukas in second place and Ken Jones with the fastest lap (42.192) in third place.

• Race 2

Race 2 saw the grid reversed and some of the more experienced drivers further back and having to fight through the tightly packed field. Ben O’Conner had an excellent race gaining 10 positions on his way to 4^th place, but the podium drivers managed to do it again, with Jaunius Zukas taking the win from 7^th place, second place went to Stanley Jones, as well as the fastest lap (42.174) and third to his father Ken. Andrew Turvey managed to progress past 6 drivers to finish in 7^th place, and Caitlyn Gibbs managed a top 10 finish in her senior kart debut.

Overall this year’s Lotus Cup is shaping up to be a great battle, with many drivers all gunning for race wins and even more drivers who could be challenging for podium places as the season goes on.

With an excellent grid of 15 drivers attending last weekends “shake down”, basking in glorious sunshine, we still have 11 spaces available for drivers wishing to sign up for the 2018 season……..

Drivers signing up from now (thus missed the shakedown) will be given a FULL 1-2-1 DRIVER COACHING SESSION…….FREE OF CHARGE… BEFORE RACE 1 (26th May)….

“After the success of the last 8 seasons and this year’s subsequent SELL OUT of the Senna Cup 2018, we are creating a SECOND ADULT championship that we will be running for drivers that don’t have the preparation time available to compete in race meetings as “owner” drivers but still want to get all the extra benefits that becoming a club racer offers!
THE LOTUS CUP!!
Like the Senna Cup, this championship will alternate between straight GP60 and 2 x Reversed Grid Races format, on a monthly basis.

After each race the top three drivers will receive trophies and ALL entrants will get their own “lap time certificate”. Naturally many drivers will want to use their own racewear but we will have all kit available if required.

The championship will start in April and run through to November on the dates below, we will be operating a drop score, meaning your worst result is discounted, or alternatively if you miss a round, it won’t affect your championship campaign.

On the facebook group “Rye House Drivers Club (RHDC)”, friends or family will able to watch the race “live” and listen to commentary from our very own Sam Green. The race, lap by lap, will also be view-able “live” through our Alpha timing telemetry system.

Each driver will get FREE membership to the Rye House drivers Club. The championships will get FULL web exposure on our own website with regular updates to the championship points. There will be a full championship presentation, in December, to include an annual trophy. Driver’s club members receive preferential rates on practice events.

Allowing newcomers the opportunity to start karting in a professional environment, our dedicated instructors boast a wealth of knowledge and the key assets to ensure every child learns the fundamentals of driving with safety in mind!

K1 Stars offers the perfect solution!!

In association with Rye House Kart Raceway & Rye House Karting London, K1 is now OPEN to register your interest!!

The 5 week K1 course is set out to combat the saying; “is it a five minute wonder?” which can sometimes deter parents from purchasing their own equipment.

Unveiling a fleet of brand new race spec Bambino karts, the model is simple; Under the full supervision of our professional race coaches, children are able to experience the real deal in a fully equipped racing machine!

Priced at £499, the team will customise the kart to ensure every Star is fitted suitably and comfortably prior to the start of the course.

The spectrum of ability at such a young age is vast. However, we are confident that our training techniques and methods will build a strong foundation to kick start our members path into the world of motor sport!

How the course unfolds…

Week 1: The excitement of getting behind the wheel for the very first time can often become an overwhelming situation for anyone to deal with, especially at such a young age! The main focus on week 1 will be to ensure each driver is confident with the simple (but vital) elements of controlling the vehicle. Foot work and technique will be the primary focus to enable drivers to lap in a safe & controlled manner by themselves without the aid of his/her instructor.

Week 2: Having recapped what was learnt in week 1, it is important to understand the challenges of spatial awareness. The ability to steer around obstacles and stop within dedicated zones will educate drivers whilst keeping it fun and entertaining!!

Week 3: Drivers will be passenger to the coach in a side by side kart to demonstrate each drill at pace in order for Stars to imitate! The emphasis on accelerating to full speed but also hard braking will install confidence in the capabilities of the vehicle. Remember, the karts we’ll be using are geared up to compete!

Week 4: After a short but formative summary of what we’ve learnt so far, a group test session will commence. Coaches will be on hand to assist (by way of following) and advance each drivers capabilities! The team will also cover kart and driver data!

Week 5: Race Day!! The team will imitate a time trial race event for all K1 members! Light hearted and most of all FUN, each driver will be presented with a K1 awards presentation… We are all winners!! To conclude the course, not only will our members be certificated novice drivers but parents will also be given the opportunity to purchase a kart with a £499 discount should they wish to pursue meaning:
