Frequently asked questions
WHY GO MOTORSPORT UK?
Since the fragmentation of the HKC in 2016 (our MSA affiliated club), team Rye are extremely proud to have built a well-attended independent race series to ensure the circuit remains in the presence of owner driver sprint racing!
Having spent the last 7 years running solo, our framework has always been to focus on safety, good fun, strong grids & of course; encouraging more drivers into the sport via other streams of the business.
The IKR series really has exceeded expectations hence why we have been invited to become a fully-fledged member of the MSUK once again.
Why change?
Aside from the credibility of becoming a member of a recognised organisation, through the permit, we automatically fall under the governing body’s £100,000,000 public liability insurance policy.
Having recently been rebranded, reassembled & restructured, Motorsport UK really is on target to revitalise our sport! With their new approach, Motorsport UK have adopted many of the IKR processes to eliminate the detrimental issues to club level racing. In a nutshell, they are cutting out (what some might call) the nonsense and focussing on consistent blanket policies to ensure racers receive a uniform experience across the country.
In tandem, Motorsport UK are also supporting circuits with staff training and assistance to allow racetrack employees to become licenced, therefore, much of the team at Rye House will remain at your service!
DO I NEED A LICENCE?
Rye House Kart Club Championship will run under the new RS Clubman permit.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR A LICENCE?
The RS Clubman licence is free to drivers, the licence can be downloaded as digital versions and kept on your phone.
The online application will take at most around 15 minutes.
Any questions with the application please contact or email info@rye-house.co.uk
There is an online theory test for over 18s to complete which will be available in the new year. Under 18s will need to attend a free session to complete their theory test at the track. These sessions will be available early next year, prior to the season starting. There will also be
sessions available on race weekends to get your licence without any extra
travelling.
If it’s your first race you will also be monitored by an MSUK official during practice and qualifying to ensure you are competent and safe to be on track. It is recommended that drivers have already taken part in an NKA outdoor karting session or IKR session before attending a practice day.
If you already have an Interclub/ National licence, this can be used to gain signatures for an upgrade to National / international licence.
Your RS clubman license is circuit specific at present, once you have done 6 events at Rye you can upgrade to an interclub licence and race all over the UK.
National / International licenses accepted. Please refer to MSUK regarding your eligibility on existing licenses.
PG LICENCE FOR PARENTS
Parents/guardians of a driver under 18 years of age must apply for a PG Licence to race in any Motorsport UK event.
Application forms can be printed HERE and must be sent in the post.
PG licences are £27.
We pride ourselves on the safeguarding of minors at the circuit and PG licences help with the safety of under 18s at the track.
