Junior Drivers Club 2026

Designed for ambitious young drivers, the 2026 Junior Drivers Club offers regular track time, racecraft development, and championship-style competition. It’s where future champions build experience, friendships, and a true love for motorsport.

2026 will see Grand Prix championships, tailored specifically for aspiring club racers.

Offering all the benefits of competitive racing while ensuring participants can enjoy their passion without the pressures of extensive preparation.

160cc EVO Race Karts

A standout feature of the Junior RHDC is our fleet of 160cc EVO karts, built to full race specification and reserved exclusively for championship competitors.

These high-performance karts deliver greater speed and consistency, while being meticulously maintained to ensure equal performance across the grid. This guarantees a true level playing field, allowing drivers to focus purely on developing their skills — a key factor that sets this championship apart from others in the UK.

Age Groups & Grand Prix Format

The championship welcomes young racers in two categories:

  • Ages 8–15
  • Ages 12–15

Each round follows a professional Grand Prix format, including practice and qualifying to determine grid positions, followed by a full race running through to the end of the hour. This structured approach helps drivers understand the complete racing process while building excitement at every stage.

Event Day Schedule

Drivers should arrive 60 minutes before practice begins, with the event concluding approximately 60 minutes after the session starts, including the podium presentation.

From arrival to departure, the full experience lasts around 2.5 hours — delivering maximum track time while keeping the commitment manageable for families.

Trophies, Recognition & Race Gear

Effort and achievement are recognised at every round. Trophies are awarded to the top three finishers, and all drivers receive a personalised lap time certificate.

Competitors may wear their own race equipment, or take advantage of the comprehensive racing kit provided — ensuring everyone arrives on the grid fully prepared.

Season Structure

The championship is priced at £700 and includes a Winter Cup event in February — a non-points round designed to help drivers settle into the format before the main season begins.

The 9-round championship runs from March to November, with competitors able to drop their lowest-scoring round to accommodate holidays, scheduling changes, or unforeseen circumstances.

Testing & Ongoing Development

The annual RHDC programme also includes dedicated monthly test sessions and reduced fees for casual track bookings.

This provides young drivers with consistent opportunities to practice, refine their racecraft, and continue developing throughout the season.

Frequently asked questions

Is karting safe?

At Rye House Kart Raceway, the safety of every driver and visitor is our highest priority. Our karts and circuit are maintained to exceptional standards and undergo regular inspections to ensure they meet strict safety and operational requirements.

We provide all essential safety equipment and deliver thorough safety briefings before every session. Listening carefully and following our team’s instructions is your part in ensuring a safe, fair, and enjoyable race experience for everyone on track.

While we take every possible precaution and operate to rigorous standards, karting is a fast-paced motorsport activity and, as with any sport, there is always a degree of inherent risk.

Do you have height and weight limits?

Our adult karts are suitable for drivers with a minimum height of 5'0" (152.4cm) and a maximum height of 6'8" (203.2cm).

Our junior karts are designed for drivers between 4'2" (127cm) and 6'0" (183cm) in height.

All of our karts feature adjustable seats and pedals to help achieve a comfortable driving position. However, as with any kart, there are practical limits to the range of adjustment.

While minimum height requirements are fixed for safety reasons, maximum height can be more variable. In most cases, drivers up to 6'8" (205cm) can be accommodated, although taller drivers may experience reduced comfort depending on body proportions.

Weight and body shape can also affect fit. Two drivers of the same weight may fit differently depending on their build, as seat width and upper body proportions play a role in comfort and positioning within the kart.

If you have any concerns about suitability, we strongly recommend contacting us before your visit. Our team will be happy to advise and can arrange for you to try a kart for size in advance where possible.

Is there food and drinks on site?

Our on-site café has a range of food and refreshments to keep you fuelled throughout your visit. That said, we recommend avoiding a heavy meal before heading out on track — high-speed racing and a full stomach aren’t always the best combination.

Enjoy your karting first and reward yourself with a well-earned meal afterwards.

Staying hydrated is equally important, particularly during warmer weather. Karting is more physically demanding than many expect, so we recommend drinking plenty of water!

Do I need a driving licence?

No, you do not need a driving licence but you must be at least 16* years old and abide by our terms and conditions.

*Drivers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will be required to countersign the drivers indemnity form.

Can I bring spectators or guests?

Yes, we have the best facilities in the UK – family, guests and spectators are always welcome without charge.
